This past month we have been working
land, laying plastic, watering, sowing seeds,  pulling weeds, planting pumpkins and other vegetables.  We have had our share of rain, which has been a little tricky as far as getting in the fields and working.  It's looking like we might be getting a break from it.  The pumpkins and vegetables that are in the ground already have really benefited from the rain.

Here's how it works:  Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) has become a popular way for consumers to buy local, seasonal food directly from the farmer.  This program was started over 20 years ago.  A farmer offers a certain number of "shares" to the public. The share consists of a box of fresh vegetables. Interested consumers purchase a share (aka a "membership" or a "subscription") and in return receive a box of seasonal produce each week throughout the farming season starting the first weekend in July and lasting until the second weekend in October.

Painter Farms high quality produce is exceptional enough to be sold before it is even grown. CSA members typically pay for their shares in advance. This allows the farmers to plan ahead for the coming season and to take advantage of the best variety of seeds and supplies. We also feel it is important for you to know that for months prior to your first delivery; we are planning, planting and tending crops for you.
